Catalyzes the dehydrogenation of precorrin-2 to form sirohydrochlorin which is used as a precursor in both siroheme biosynthesis and in the anaerobic branch of adenosylcobalamin biosynthesis. It is unable to oxidize precorrin-3. Homodimer.
